Theme Parks and Attractions
Millions of tourists from around the world come to Central Florida for our mega, name-brand amusement parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and SeaWorld. As a Florida resident, you have time to explore scores of other quirky curiosities and roadside attractions sprinkled throughout our communities.
In our pre-Disney days, locals and tourists delighted in places like Bok Tower, Weeki Wachee Springs, Gatorland and Sarasota Jungle Gardens. And the best part is many of these attractions are still open, and new ones keep popping up too, like Orlando’s World of Chocolate Museum.
If it’s a traditional (but less expensive) amusement experience you want, many of our communities offer annual fairs and festivals. Or take a visit to the year-round version of a county fair at Fun Spot America in Orlando or Kissimmee. Fun Spot offers plenty of nostalgic fun with go-karts, cotton candy, a lively arcade and an old-time wooden coaster.
It may also surprise some to learn that the Kennedy Space Center, home to NASA’s former Space Shuttle launches, grants tours in its Cape Canaveral location.
It’s impossible to get bored, there’s so much to see and do. Plus, many local venues feature season passes for those of us lucky enough to call Florida home.
